Sup, nice to virtually meet ya!
Hey, I’m Ryan.
I bet you’ve figured that out by now. I’m originally from Brooklyn… then Florida… then Georgia… then back to Florida… then Georgia again… and finally back to Florida. It’s been a ride.
Before I got into game design, I was focused on filmmaking—writing scripts, set dressing, lighting, editing. I could’ve been a decent camera guy, but the thought of holding thousands of dollars of equipment? Yeah, no thanks. Everything changed in 2014, when a college course introduced me to game development. That’s when the question arose : what if you could tell stories the way you do in film, but your only limit wasn’t a physical space—it was your imagination? (Okay, and maybe technology. But we ignore that part.)
Since then, game development’s carved out its own little pocket universe in my brain. I’ve worked with incredible people who’ve helped me grow as a developer—and the best part has been watching players experience that same spark of joy I felt playing games like Alice: Madness Returns.
These days, I teach middle and high school—and I get to teach the stuff I love. Game Design is a big one, from building board games to digital demos students share around school. A few have even grouped up to start building their own Roblox projects, which has been awesome to watch.
Best part of all is I get to teach some of my other creative passions too:
Film & Animation? That’s me.
3D Modeling & Robotics? Also me.
Theme Park Design? I built that class from scratch—and somehow, way more students signed up than I expected.
Oh—and that bit on the homepage about superhero movie podcast discussions? I turned that into a class too: The History of Modern Superheroes, taught by the nerdy guy in oversized tees. (I’ll let you figure out who that is.)
Hopefully this gives you a better sense of who I am. If you're reading this, there's a good chance I sent you my resume—so I hope we get to talk soon.
P.S. If your wondering about the Celsius cans. I’m a teacher—we survive on those. And if you’re a comic book fan, the colors might just give the joke away.
